First of all I have to admit that I'm getting rather tired of pictures of single water drops on plants, because I've seen so many of them. This one on the other hand really stood out from the other zillion pictures on DA in my opinion and thus had a huge impact on me.
The composition is really strong using the rule of thirds and diagonal lines in a really nice way leaving a lot of negative space which works really well in this image. I like the fact that parts of the leaves are blurry due to using a low aperture.
What makes the picture stand out is the plant parts themselves (is it a fern?) which look unusual and because of the crossed leaves and the wonderful colors of the background. The reflection in the water drop gives the image an extra twist and makes it more interesting.
All in all a wonderful picture that stands out because of its simple elegance!
