Wow. What a wonderful example of minimalism and nature combined! In a very interesting way, you've created a contradictory visual concept, at least in the way that I see it. Nature by any means is not minimal or simple. Nature is not random--patterns occur everywhere in plants and animals--making nature a much more complicated concept.
In using organic material I think you've accomplished a very ironic combination. The simple square shape that you've arranged the blades of grass into makes repetition a strong aspect of this photo. However the layering of the grass also gives this depth and complexity as one blade of grass is buried by another. The straight line of the daisies somewhat subdues the chaos the grass creates and leads our eyes to focus on the flowers.
When I first saw this as a thumbnail, I couldn't help but be intrigued. And out of the three photos you mentioned in your description (this one, Metamorphosis, and 5 Star Photo), this one is #1 on my list. It's a striking example of detailed, yet simple minimalism, with the green grass, the tiny daisies, and the wonderful white negative space all coming together to produce a truly striking outcome. The amount of detail is just incredible - even though the "patch" of grass is supposed to be square, the little blades protruding from the "edges" give this arrangement a beautiful realism. The same goes for the smaller daisy on the far right.
Overall, a truly amazing photograph - vivid, detailed, and visionary. Wonderful job, Jules.
Interesting composition of forms and colors. Reminds me of the aesthetic of the plane clean styling of these modern asian restaurants. Simple, clean and interesting to look at. And the little shifted fifth daisy, which is "dancing out of the line", makes it even better in my opinion.
