What strikes me most is the use of black and white with a subject we are so used to see in garish, over-saturated colors, that we are taken aback for an istant before appreciating the details, the texture and the simple beauty of it, enhanced by the use of the white space surrounding (and isolating) the flower. To complete the effect there is a perfect tuning of the blacks and the greys, these so light that offer only a trace of distinction from the background. The result is achieved without subtracting anything to the elegance and vitality of the water drops: overall, it seems even more lively than the usual colorful flower shots.
