No really? deviantART has just banned all that pageviews for points crap (YAY!), now people are offering features for points? 20 points per thumb? 100 points to be permanently featured on their frontpage (which no one ever really visits anyway?!)? ... I find it fairly interesting (and ironic) how often I hear people complain about dA trying to make money. Yet it's the same people that evaluate pages like dA, Redbubble etc based on how many prints they can sell there. That is all.

Editing YOUR pictures?

Personally I absolutely love playing around in Photoshop, but I'm feeling fairly uninspired when it comes to my own pictures lately so I was wondering if some of you had a picture or two for me to play with?

If you do...

1. upload it somewhere (your scraps, external website, etc) and send me a link via NOTE.
2. no more than 2 pics per deviant.
3. if you have any suggestions regarding the editing (retro theme, color theme, touch-ups etc) let me know.
4. I won't upload any of your pictures to my gallery/scraps/elsewhere. They are YOURS and yours only. I will get back to you with a link

Hey everyone,

a lot has been happening with me lately, I've moved to Munich ([link] - totally love having my own place!! - because I've started a new job as a Customer Service Assistant for a global company (headquarters are in Texas, USA). All of that happened in a little less than 2 months (that includes staying at a hotel for a week, and sleeping on someone's couch for another 3 weeks, coz finding an apartment around here is incredibly difficult). So yeah, that's my updates. I have a lot less free-time, but the city is beautiful and I'm really enjoying the job. What have you lot been up to?

Feel free to share art, stories, journals etc as I haven't had much time to connect with most of you lately

Just a quick head's up, I'm still alive, just veeery busy. In the process of moving to Munich and starting a new job as soon as next week

Now a little something I stole from `PurpelBlur (who has just received Deviousness, so go congratulate him!): journal take-over. You get to use my journal for just about anything you'd like to promote. Simply send me a note with a bit of text and info and I'll post it to my journal. It could be a contest you're hosting, a deviation of yours that you feel deserves a bit of attention (thumbcode please), a group you love, a deviant you would like to highlight, etc etc.

In other, very sad news, !radioPooh and `karyaazure have passed away, which means a great loss for the community and, of course, their families and loved ones. I wasn't great friends with either of them, but have thoroughly enjoyed their presence and impact on here. Year's End

First off, I hope everyone's had a wonderful Christmas/holiday season. Mine has been good, though I'm glad it's over.

The 24th was made even sweeter by the lovely `jussta who gave me a DD on one of my favorite vexel pieces

While I don't really do any vexelling/vectoring anymore, I really enjoyed the lovely gesture!
If all goes well, I'll be going to the Baltic Sea this Thursday and spend New Year's there with a whole lot of friends. I should be back this Sunday, so in case I don't reply to comments/notes/etc, that'd be why.
The My Precious Contest ends in exactly one week, so be sure to get your entries in!
2010 has been interesting, intense and pretty exciting to say the least. I can't wait what 2011 has in store for me

10 days to go till Christmas and I just had to contact an ebay seller, as I've ordered books last weekend (Dec 4) and they're still not here.

As always I'm super late with presents... oh well, I've made cookies instead!

Why deviantART Will Never Be Perfect

"This isn't worthy of a Daily Deviation!" "This user should be banned!" "OMG, moderators please remove this news article!!" "deviantART is going downhill... "

I can't even begin to count the times I have heard a complaint regarding deviantART. Gallery changes, changes to the overall layout, the introduction of llamas, a new moderator, a Daily Deviation, a new senior member... you name it, I've seen people complaining about it. No wait, not complaining but BITCHING.
Calling people names, making threats, rallying up friends/fans - it seems people would do anything to get their point across and have their say. And, sadly, in most cases these kinds of complaints turn into personal vendettas. All of a sudden EVERYTHING deviantART does is bad. EVERY SINGLE THING.

They don't cater to you specifically? They never asked what is your stance on llamas? They never even wanted to know what you thought of that oh-so-famous deviant green? NO?
Well in all honesty, let's be realistic here. With close to 15 million users, it is simply IMPOSSIBLE to cater to each and everyone's needs, ideas and expectations. It just won't happen, you may as well get used to it.

Still you are just one person. One in 14.5 million. That makes you important, but it doesn't mean that everything is going to go your way.

deviantART will never be perfect, not for you, not for me, hell probably not even for +spyed

Because we're 14.5 million different people with 14.5 million different opinions.

And let's not forget, deviantART is 10 years old. Over the years it has seen an incredible amount of changes. And for it to grow, for us all to grow, we need just that: CHANGE. Before I came here, I had no idea what fractals were. Now I do... kinda.

A film gallery was added. After years of running clubs on regular accounts, we finally had groups. Gallery folders. Collections. Critiques. A better message center. Portfolios. I could go on.
But the simple fact is, people keep dwelling on the bad. "Yes all of this is great, but..." No. No BUT.

So how about we stop focusing on the negative and pay a little more attention on the positive? I'm not saying ignore everything you don't like about deviantART, but try shifting your energy and focus to what really matters.
Art. Your friends. Receiving feedback. Helping others.

This isn't about llamas. Don't like them? Remove the badge from your userpage.
This isn't about pageviews. Don't like them? Go to your settings ([link], select Browsing on the left and untick the "See Pageviews" box.
This isn't about other deviants giving you a hard time. Don't like them? Ban them from commenting or noting you.
This isn't about deviations that you don't consider to be art. Don't like them? Move on.
